ROSS GOLDFIELDS. ; £172 FROM 430z. Tnii weekly return from the Ross Goldfields was telegraphed yesterday as follows :—"43oz 3dwt from 1100 trucks of wash-dirt." The value of this return is about £172. The report of the work done at tho Ross Goldfields during tho week ending August 6 states that in the sixth level workings, No. 7 south drive was oxtended 32ft and was 140 ft from the opening. For the last 10ft the wash became poor. No. 3 east drive was extended 20ft, but was stopped owing to the v -valuo of the wash becoming poor. The wash was payablo for the first 15lt. All blocking in Nos. 5 and 6 shafts was in payable wash. A start was mado to sink the monkey shaft deeper in order to ..try to pick up tho wash located at a depth of 16ft in the winze. This shaft was to be sunk another Bft or 10ft. TALISMAN CONSOLIDATED. CORRECTED RETURN. Corrected figures were received yesterday as to tho value of tho return from the Talisman Consolidated mine for July. The yield was first telegraphed as being £21,151 0s 3d, but the actual figures should have been £22,151 Os 3d, or £1000 more. The total amount of bullion won from tho mine to date is thus £2,263,694 17s. NEW WAITAIA. Tho reef stripped from No. 3 rise at tho New Waitaia mine, Kuaotunu, looked well last week. It was from 3ft to 4ft wide, and was showing.nice dabs of gold. NEW CAMBRIA. Tho manager of the Now Cambria mine, Thames, reports that the country in tho face was rather tight last week, on account of several small leaders, which wero branches of tho reef, crossing tho face, thus making it difficult to snoot. The main reef was a very strong body of stone, and the quartz broken looked very promising. SAXON. Driving oast was advanced 17ft on tho Cardigan No. 2 reef, No. 7 level, Saxon mine, Thames, last week. This made a total distance from the crosscut of 244 ft. The reef was up to Bin in width, and was showing dabs of gold through the zinc blende. The east drive on the Cardigan No. 1 reef was advanced 10ft, making a total distance of 43ft from the junction. The reef was up to lSin in width, and was carrying, iron pyrites, but no gold was seen.
