WAIHI GRAND JUNCTION.
GOOD ASSAY RESULTS. ' The report of the work done at tho Waihi Grand Junction mine during the period ending April 18, states that in No. 4 | level, No. 12 winze on the Martha lode was sunk 7ft, making a total depth of \ 26ft. Forty inches of ore assayed at £2 I 2s 7d, and the footwall only was exposed. I No. 5 winze in No. 5 level was sunk j to a total depth of 30ft. At this point, | sinking had to bo temporarily suspended j owing to an inflow of water. Two i samples taken on an average width of i 36in gave tho assay result of £6 Is 6d per ton. No. 1 rise, Grace lode, No. 6 level, was put up to 87ft, and "was holed into the No. 1 winze from No.'s level. From the No. .7 level to 35ft up tho ore averaged £2 Os 8d per ton.. The crosscut at 50ft, No. 5 winze, Empire '. lode, was advanced 9ft, making a total length of 26ft. Tho crosscut exposed both walk, and showed the full width of the lode to bo 24ft 4in, averaging £2 15s 2d per ton. No. 9 winzo was sunk to 70ft, and a width of 44in aver- ' aged £2 18s 7d per ton. At 86ft, east, : samples taken across the lode showed i 4ft on the footwall side to be worth £1 9s sd, and the next 4ft 10s 3d per : ton. Then,. 4ft on the hangingwnll side I assayed £20 Is 7d per ton. ! SAXON. | [BY TKLEOBAPH.— OWN COBiIESPONDENT. ] ' Thames, Saturday. The drive eastward on the No. 2 Car- , digan lode, at No. 7 level, has been continued during the week, and a total distanco of 130 ft has been driven from the I crosscut. During the greater part of i the week the reef has been disturbed i owing to a break crossing through it, ; but this has now been passed through and the lode, .which is forming solid again beyond the break, is being stripped forward, but no quartz has been broken down as yet. The leading stope is be- j ing continued along over the' drive at ! the point of junction, and this is now driven a length of 30ft. The lode is I fully 2ft in width in this stope and is carrying a good class of mineral and j shows colours of gold. The ore obtained is being saved for treatment. j. i
