PICNIC ON SUNDAY.

A REPLY TO PROTESTS. [BY TELEGRAPH — PRESS association.] Ddnedin, Friday. A meeting of the Dunedin Presbytery's committee on Sabbath observance was held today. A resolution was passed strongly protesting against the action of the Bakers' Union in fixing Sunday as the day for the trade picnic. The president of the union, when interviewed to-night, stated that his union had been forced to take Sunday, or be debarred from holding a picnic. He blamed a number of the employers, who had re fused to give them Saturday as a picnic day, which was the only really suitable day. Members of the union: regretted being forced to take Sunday for their picnic day.
