YESTERDAY'S BUSINESS. Business was {airly active on the Stock Exchange yesterday. Sales of Bank of New Zealand rights were reported at £4 15s 6d and £4 15s, with further tuyers at £4 14s. New Zealand Insurances were offered at £5 16s 6d, buyers offering £5 15s 6d. There were reported sales of Devonport Ferries at 32s 6d and New Zealand Portland Cements at 12s 3d. In mining lines the principal feature was a decline in Talismans. During the day 950 shares changed hands (300 at thc I first, call, 550 at the mid-day call, and j 100 at the last call] at from 40s to 36s to ! 36s 9d to 36s 6d, sellers closing at 36s J 6d. with buyers at 365. The previous | day's selling price was 41s, prior to which ! the staple market price for pome time had t been about 425. Waihis sold at 44s and 44s 3d. late buyers 435. and sellers 445.
