The Onehunga Swimming and LifeSaving Club's .fourth and concluding gala will be held on Wednesday evening next at the Albert Street baths, Auckland, when a varied and interesting programme of, nine events will be decided. A great amount of interest is being shown in the rowing club's relay race of 288 yds, for the Dr. Stuart Reid Cup, which will be contested by teams of eight men a-eide. North Shore are at "present the holders of the cup, and this year they will be-op-. posed by the Auckland, West Endj St. .George's, and Waitemata Clubs. Another event which should provide an exciting contest is the 72yds race for the Bach Cup, which ie open to members of the Post and Telegraph Club. The present holder is J. C. Hancox. Large nominations have been received for the farewell, inter-club, and Lang handicaps, the lastnamed race being in honour of the <lub"a patron, the Hon. W. F. Lang, M.P. The Cheltenham Swimming Club will hold its fourth carnival of the season at Cheltenham Beach this afternoon, the first race commencing, at half-past two o'clock. A firstTclass programme has been arranged and with most of Auckland's leading swimmers taking part, a fine afternoon sport should result. * Matters in connection with the Waitemata Swimming Club have been in a far from satisfactory condition during the present season, but there is every reason to believe that affairs will be nlaeed on a sound footing before the close "of the -ore sent season.- A- committee meeting was held on Thursday evening; last when certain resolutions were -passed, including one to the effect that the club's affiliation fee would be paid to the centre when itwas proved that'certain other clubs alleged to be unfinancial were good on. the centre's books. As all clubs in Auckland affiliated to the centre, with 1 the exception ! r the Waitemata Club, have now paid up'for the season-1913-14, the Waitemata due- is expected to fall into, line' without delay A meeting of swimmers attached to that club is called for Thursday next at 7.30 m. when a- satisfactory adjustment of the present deadlock is considered likely toresult. The meeting will ; held at the Sports Club. >-.'■ ; >, < . •**£.-
