The Auckland Weekly News, which makes its appearance this morning, contains a wide range of interesting illustrations. Considerable prominence amongst Auckland's beaches has lately been given to Milford, owing to a charge of immodest behaviour on the part of certain bathers who spend their week-ends at this popular resort. A full page of snapshots of swimmers and sun-bathers is included in the issue. Pictures of the big yachting race for the Macky Cup are also presented. These show the start, the yachts well under way, and the winning boat. The central two pages of the edition are occupied by a picturesque series of photographs dealing with the timber industry in the beautiful native bush around Mamaku. Several splendid pictures of Scotland by a wellknown photographic artist of that country are a distinct acquisition to the number. Another full page is composed of pictures of inmates of the Onehunga Zoo, which may possibly soon have to go elsewhere owing to a new by-law passed by the Onehunga Borough Council. A row of pretty children who gained prizes at the Exhibition baby show also appear. Included among other subjects illustrated are a view of the recent eruption and earthquake in Japan, Australia v. New Zealand in the first test cricket match, the San Francisco Exposition as seen from an aeroplane, a daring American aviator looping the loop, 'senior boy scouts of Wellington who took part in the Citizens' Carnival, .•'hipping fruit under difficulties at the Cook Islands, Japanese soldiers manoeuvring, American athletes at Hamilton, a fatal monoplane accident in England, the Prime Minister at Pic ton, " Venus and Cupid." the famous painting damaged by a suffragette. Australia's first submarine, and a strange mishap to a motor-car near Waipawa. Numerous portraits also appear.
