(Received March 17, 8.45 p.m.) New York, March 16. Following on the destruction by fire of the United States Customshouse and post office at Tecate (California), the United States authorities have declared martial law around the neighbourhood. The outrages are alleged to have been committed by Mexicans. American troops are now r patrolling the frontier.
The Governor of California is likely to demand that the Mexicans accused of complicity in the affair be given up to justice. Much ill-feeling exists between Americans and Mexicans in the neighbourhood.
