POLICE COURT NEWS.
CHARGES OF VAGRANCY.
A man sitting of the Police Court was held yesterday before Messrs. J. Walton and A. Walsh, J.P.'s. Charged with" drunkenness, and with being an idle and disorderly person, Annie McCarthy, age d 58 years, stated that she had been out of work for only one week, and that she had some £8 due to her in wages. She was convicted, and ordered to come up for sentence when called on. A sentence of one month's imprisonment with hard labour was imposed unon William Thornton a man 50 years of age, for being idle and disorderly. It was stated that the man had been abort the town for the last month in the company of bad characters. He had a list "of previous convictions aeainst him. Charles Jesky was charred with having deserted from the shin Homfels, and was ordered to pay £2 10s, the costs of the prosecution. . , -■' 'i"* ■* INSOBRIETY.'- ' Two first offenders were convicted of drunkenness and discharged, one being ordered to nay cab hire. Henry Stanley was fined 5s for his second, offence. For drunkenness and using obscene language to a constable John Jackson was convicted and ordered to pay lis expenses
