SAVINGS BANK SOCIAL.

The inclement weather of yesterday caused the abandonment of the picnic to Titirangi, which was to have been tendered to the staff of the Auckland Savings Bank by Mr. Alf. Krdd, a vice-president. A company of 50 was, however, entertained in the old board room at the bank, and a most enjoyable evening was spent. Mr. Kidd nresided at the tea, and in a happy speech referred to the gathering as the inauguration of a similar function annually. The chairman presented the picnic secretary, Mr. J. W. Watts, with a handsome eight-day watch in recognition of the energy and tact displayed by him in making the arrangements for the day.
