FARMERS' RESERVE CORPS.
PALMERSTON MOVEMENT.
[BY TELEGRAPH.OWN UORP.ESPONrJENT.I Palmerston North. Saturday. The question of forming a reserve force was discussed at it meeting of the Farmers' Union this morning. A deputation having asked the union to give its support to a proposal to form, in the Wellington province, a country reserve force for the protection, of farmers' interests in case of industrial unrest.
The meeting generally was in sympathy with the proposal, though some members considered the formation of such a bodv would embitter one side against another". The chairman, however, maintained that the time had arrived when the producer, in order to protect himself, his interests, and his country, would have to be more aggressive.
It was finally decided to send as a remit to the provincial conference a recommendation for the establishment of a country reserve corps.
