FIRE IN WORKSHOPS.
LOSS •OF £3000.
[BY telegraph.—press association.] Wellington, Friday. - A febb occurred in the machinery and fitters' shop of the railway maintenance works at Kaiwarra this morning. The building a wooden one and very old, and it was quickly destroyed. The main loss, however, was in the destruction of the machinery, which was comparatively new. The total loss is estimated at about £3000. The cause of the fire is unknown. It evidently started near the boiler-house.
