London, January 29. The police state that the bullets went through the. deceased's head, showing that he was in an uprignu position when he was shot. The senior detective at Wolverhampton is of opinion that the murderer knew the shaft near which the body was found, but that the knowledge was not recent- A brick wall had since been raised to 10ft owing to several suicides. It is thought that the murderer persuaded Reeks to alight from a motor-car on the pretence of a short cut, and after the shooting was unable to' lift the body over the wall. The shaft is flooded with water 200fi deep, and it is practically impossible to empty it.
