ATLANTIC RATE WAR.

The reduction in the Atlantic fares made by the Cunard - and White Star Lines to meet the cutting rates of the Hamburg-Amerika comes into force on February 1. The Liverpool representative of the Hamburg-Amerika Line states that it a fight to a finish. The Hamburg-Amerika Line is building three 20,000-ton steamers for the South Anferican passenger service.

The Allan line, Canadian Pacific and other Canadian lines are reducing their rates of passage money, to the same level as the Cunard and White Star Companies-
