The first meeting of the City Council this year will be held this evening.
A well-known singer of Scotch songs, Miss Adelaide Bruce, will take part in the St. Andrew's Society's 'concert on the evening of Monday, January 26.
The total rates of Otahuhu for the year amount to £3829 lis 6d. Of this sum £2061 has been collected, leaving a balance of £1768 lis 6d outstanding.
Some of the cart horses of the city are now wearing " sun-bonnets," on account of the heat. Several cases are reported of horses having been slightly affected by the sun.
A Chinese' named Wong Yoe, was admitted to the hospital last night with a fractured shoulder. The injury was caused through his falling off a tramcar a day or two ago.
The chairman of the Harbour Board made a further statement yesterday about the controversey that has arisen regarding Campbell Point.
A resolution has been passed by the Auckland Diocesan Social Questions Commission expressing the hope that the Exhibition executive will not embark on any lottery or raffle for the benefit of the Exhibition funds.
