WAIHI GRAND JUNCTION.
SOME GOOD VALUES. ,
For the period ended November 1, the No. 1 shaft at the Waihi Grand Junction mine had been sunk a further 6ft, making a total depth of 1159 ft, or 76ft below No. 6 level. The inflow of water had averaged 21,000 gallons per hour. In No. 6 level, Empire lode, the main east drive was advanced 38ft, making a total of 68ft. The assays from 30ft to 60ft averaged £2 14s, for the width of the drive. From 55ft east to 65ft east of 856 ft point, the lode had been broken out for an average width «f 83m, giving an average value of £5 3s. The ore produced from No. 5 winze assayed £2 19s 4d per ton. No. 11 winze was advanced Bft, making a total depth of 56ft The ore was worth £3 3s 8d per ton. In the Empire footwall leader wist, No. 3 winze was sunk a further 41ft on the footwall making a total depth of 56ft The width of the reef was 45in, and one wall was exposed, assaying £10 lis 5d A crosscut put in at 50ft down disclosed the full width of the lode to be Bft It was worth £3 13s 9d per ton. The walls of the reef in No. 4 winze were uncertain; 46m of ore averaged £4 4s per ton. No 5 winze was sunk to a total depth of 2lft and 39in of ore assayed on an average £3 8s 9d per ton.
