DETERMINED SUICIDE.
MANY WOUNDS INFLICTED.

Whakatane, Friday. A death, which points to a deliberate and most determined case of suicide, occurred at Teteko yesterday morning.
A farm labourer, Harry Fletcher Hardgraves, 45 years of age, who had been working for Mr. A. White, Teteko, was found dead about 11.50 a.m. yesterday near his whare with his throat cut. Deep gashes on both legs below the calves, one on his forearm and a deep wound across his chest over his heart were also discovered. A bloodstained razor was found king near the body. Deceased was last seen alive about 10.40.a.m., when he. appeared to be in his usual state of health. He recently returned from a holiday at Auckland, but had not resumed work.
Constable Cummings, of Whakatane, on being informed of the affair, hastened to tire scene and, searching the body, found a letter supposed to have beep written bv the deceased to his mother, and addressed to No. 7, Fitzherbert Street, Palmerston North. In this it was stated that he contemplated suicide, while a note was also found in his whare bidding a, mate goodbye.
