PROSPECTIVE IMMIGRANTS.
WELSH IN PATAGONIA,
London, December 28. The Governments of New South Wales and Victoria have been approached by the English agent of the Welsh people in Patagonia, who states that there is a likelihood of inducing the majority of them to emigrate to Australia, provided assisted passages are granted.
There is a big settlement of Welshmen in Patagonia, and a few years ago a delegation visited Australia with the object of examining into the prospects for settlement. Mr. Rees, a member of the Victorian Legislative Council, who is a Welshman, interested himself in the matter and visited Patagonia.
