JAPAN AND DOMINION WOOL.

INVESTIGATIONS BEING MADE.

JBT TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Tuesday. A spectator at to-morrow's wool sale in Wellington will be Mr. T. Takahashi, who represents the Government woollen mills at Tokio. Japan. Mr. Takahashi is visiting New Zealand with a view of furnishing a report to the Japanese Government on the quality of our wool, and also as to the methods of sale adopted here. He visited the woolshed to-day, and examined the various samples displayed there in preparation for to-morrow's sale. To a pressman, Mr. Takahashi stated that all the material for the uniforms of the Japanese -irmy is manufactured at the Government mills at Tokio, which employs about 1500 hands constantly. Mr. Takahashi attended the wool sales at Napier, and, after watching the operations at to-morrow's sale in Wellington, he proceeds South, and thence goes on to Tasmania, Melbourne, and Svdney. It is probable that he will again visit Australia and New Zealand during the next wool season. He was unable to say whether Japan would be a regular customer for New Zealand wool, as that would depend on the decision of the Japanese authorities after considering the reports which ho will furnish on the quality of New Zealand and Australian wools and on tke conditions of sale and cost of shipping, etc.
