FOUR WOMEN DROWNED.
MYSTERIOUS OCCURRENCE.

Brisbane, December 15. Four women, viz., Mrs. Henderson and two daughters and Mrs. Willcox, while bathing in the Albert River, at Tambourine, yesterday, were drowned.
Nobody 'saw the occurrence, but a passer-by found four lots of women's clothes on the bank. It is surmised that one got into difficulties, and the others went to her rescue.
RELIEF FOR MACOUARIES. v Hoiurt. December 15. The schooner Rachel Cohen has arrived here from the Mncquaries. On the day of her departure, the Aurora arrived and took off the party left by Dr. Mawson. SOUTH MELBOURNE BLAZE.

A fire caused damage to the extent of £10,000 to the premises occupied by Messrs. Brookes. Robinson, and Co., glass merchants, in South Melbourne, yesterday. The roof of Scritt and Son's cool stores took fire, but the contents of the building were not harmed. The caretaker's cottage was destroyed, the occupants escaping in their night attire, by climbing on a shed and thence over a brick wall.
