The offer made by the Duke of Sutherland of 450,000 acres of his estates in the north of Scotland is considered .by Mr. ' Lloyd George (Chancellor of the Exchequer) to be unacceptable to the Government. The Chancellor suggests that the Development Commissioner may, if he chooses, utilise a portion of the land.
