BODY IN TIN TRUNK.
BABY FOUND DEAD.
NO MASKS OF VIOLENCE.
INQUEST TO BE HELD TO-DAY.
A single woman named Elisabeth Milliken. a housemaid, 32 years of age, employed at the Prince Arthur Hotel, gave birth to a child late on Monday evening. The child was found dead yesterday rooming, and the matter will be inquired into by Mr. E. C. Cutten, S.M., at the Coroner's Court at 11 o'clock this ingYesterday morning th woman Milliken rot np as usual, but .. absequently informed the licensee's wife that she was feeling unwell. Dr. Florence. Keller was sent for, arid found that the woman had recently given birth to a child. The do*:tor was informed that the child was in a tin trunk. The body of a newly-born child was found in the place stated, and the doctor expressed the opinion that the child had lived and had been healthy. As far as could be seen there were no marks of violence on its body. Dr. Florence Keller conducted a postmortem, examination, the result of which will be divulged at the inquest.
The woman is confined to h«r bed.
