FARM HAND'S AFFAIRS.
A petition to be adjudged a bankrupt has been filed by Simon James Robert Dick, a farm labourer, of Te Awamutu. In his statement to the official assignee, debtor says that he came to the North about seven years ago, and was engaged as a creamery manager at" a salary of £8 13s 4d per month. His wife had had to undergo two operations, since when she had been in poor health. Getting behind with his accounts, he tried to improve matters by milking on shares, and was able to pay off some of his debts. By milking on shares he made £130, out of which he had to pay a boy £60. He had also incurred considerable loss through illness himself, besides which his wife had again been ill since Christmas. His wife was unable to } continue milking, and the doctor had ordered her a change. Debtor adds that he had honestly tried to make up the deficiency brought about by the sickness of his wife. His liabilities total £151 14s 4d, and his assets £21 10s, leaving a deficiency of £130 4s 4d.
