Mr. E. J. Newton, a member of the Colonial Committee, explained in an interview that -the committee was in daily consultation, members watching the trend of the market and visiting stores to .inspect the shipments. The committee sometimes called selling agents into consultation to inform sellers what it considers a fair working basis whenever a marked change of price was imminent. •
