TOWN HALL ORGAN RECITAL?. The ninth competitive Tecital upon tlifl grand organ in the Town Hall was given on Saturday evening, by Mr. T. C. Webb, of Wanganui, before a numerous attendance. Applause was frequent, and in. one instance, at least, encouragement was given to submit an encore selection. Probably owing to nervousness, the reeitalist was not in a position to satisfy the more critical of his listeners in his interpretations of several of the ample, scores by W. '['. Best, Mendelssohn, Bach, and others. Among tho more satisfactory pieces were Guilmanl's "Priere et Berceuse" and Bohr's 'Gondola Song." The programme also included what was announced as an "Improvisation," the main features of which were the easily recognisable oopuJar airs. "Rule Britannia." " Com"in' Thro' the live." and "Home. Sweet, Borne." Other selections were : Handel's '"Allegro" from the Concetto in V. " Prehide and Fugue in A minor" (Bach), ■ " Daybreak" (Spinney), "Coronation | March " [Meyerbeer). "Tho Heavens are i Telling" (Haydn). Sonata No. 1 (MenI delssohn). "Prelude in C Sharp Minor" | (Rachmaninoff), and a potpourri of airs | from "Fans;." The series concludes next | Saturday night, when Mr. H. S. C'lauglij ton, of Wellington, will give a recital, "Tins DANDIES." "The Dandies" will submit- an entire I change of programme at the Town Hall j Concert Chamber this evening. They will again appear in the Concert Chamber to- ! morrow, but on Thursday, Friday, and i Saturday they will perform in His MaI jesty's Theatre, for which occasions specially varied programmes have been arranged. The company will return to the Concert Chamber on the following Monday. A special, matinee performance will be given in His Majesty's Theatre on Saturday next. AMATEUR OPERATIC SOCIETY'S CONCERT. Lovers of comic opera, will have an opportunity on Friday next of hearing gems from the Gilbert and Sullivan series. The programme will include specially-selected choruses, quartettes, trios, duets, and solos from the various works of these famous collaborators, and the executive hopes that the public will assist in making the concert a success, thereby helping those in need. Popular prices are being charged. and seats may be booked at, Wild man and Arey's. OPERA HOUSE. There was a crowded audience at the Opera. House again on Saturday night, the varied programme presented by the Brennan-Fuller Vaudeville Company meeting with a most cordial reception. A number of the artists appeared for the last time, their places being filled by new performers in the programme to bo presented to-night. Among the star performers will be " Les Francois," comedy acrobats and dancers in "The Bell Boy Nellie Kollo and Roy Rene will reappear, while Armstrong and Verne will be seen in. a new sketch in which the former will sing; "I was born in Virginia." Jack Straw, Pearl Livingstone, and Irene and Morton appear in new numbers. PICTURE ENTERTAINMENTS. The King's Theatre was well patronised on Saturday evening. A complete change, of programme will be presented this evening, the new selection of films which arrived by the English mail containing a variety of numbers calculated to suit all tastes. lire prize matinee at the Royal Albert Hall drew- a packed audience on Saturday afternoon, while the evening performance was also well attended. The programme will be shown again to-night and tomorrow night. ■'''.'■* Largo crowds were the order of the day at the Queen's Theatre on Saturday, all the sessions being uniformly well attended. There will be a complete change of programme to-day, the star item being "The Midnight Wedding," which is being [ shown again for three days only on account of the conspicuous success scored when it was displayed before. In addition to this there will* be a varied list of other attractions. A large audience greeted the programme presented at the Lyric Theatre on Saturday evening, when it was shown for the last time. The new programme to be shown this evening may be expected to conform to the high standard of excellence for which the Lyric Theatre is noted. All the sessions at the Newton Picture Palace were well patronised on Saturday afternoon and evening, a constant stream of patrons visiting tin's popular , picture theatre. The continuous pictures displayed at the King George Theatre drew large crowds on Saturday, the star item, " Enoch Arden," being particularly well received. .._ M—MMM .^^^______ SKATING RINKS. ."
