BROACHING SPIRIT CASKS.
TWO MEN SENTENCED.
[11T TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Rotortja, Thursday. The magistrate, Mr. Dyer, at the Rotorua Court to-day, investigated the charges of broaching a cask of whisky, consigned to Oruanui on the Mokai-Putaruru railway. George Brown, a storeman, was sentenced to three months' imprisonment.
Kalm Mahi was also convicted of stealing rum from a cask, the property of his employer, for whom he was carting, and a fine'of £10, and £215 a9d costs, was imposed.
On a charge of supplying a Maori with liquor, George Brown was also fined £25, in default three months, concurrent with the previous sentence.
