GENERAL GRANT TREASURE.
THE "ARREST" OF THE WAIROA. [BS TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Dtojedin, Friday. Before Mr. Justice Williams to-day two motions concerning the arrest of the steamer Wairoa, which was to have sailed in search of the General Grant treasure, were mentioned. One was join another defendant to the action, Stevenson and Cook Engineering Company v. the ship Wairoa, and the other was to set aside a writ of summons and warrant of arrest. Mr. W. D. Stewart appeared in support of the motion and Mr. W. C. MacGregor on behalf of Stevenson and Cook. Mr. MacGregor pointed out that the second motion had only come under his notice that morning, and it was unreasonable to expect him to be in a position to argue it. There were certain particulars, not disclosed in the papers, which would have to be obtained. The matter was allowed to stand over until next chamber day.
