REHEARING ASKED FOR.
By Telegraph.—Press Association.—Copyright. (Received October. 18, 8.50 p.m.) Sydney, October 18. The Merchant Service Guild has petitioned the Lieutenant-Governor (Sir Wm. Ciillen) to grant a rehearing of the NeraTaviuni case, on behalf of Captain Beighton.
The Marine Court found that the collision between the French mail steamer Nera and the Union Company's Taviuni (which subsequently sank at the Margaretstreet Wharf, Sydney, but has since been raised) was due to the failure of Captain Beighton to keep the Taviuni on. her proper course. His certificate was suspended 'm months.
