An old man named William McGregor was once an inmate of the Costley Home, but his behaviour of late has been so bad that the authorities have discharged him. * He admitted to Messrs. -F. J. Ellisdon, > j D. Flynn and C. H. Furness, J.P's., at the . Police , Court yesterday, his ■ third offence of drunkenness during the past six ! months. The. police evidence was hat the man was penniless and had no- : - where to go. The' Bench sentenced, him to seven days' imprisonment and ho ; was prohibited. ■ , Ross Taylor,. an o'd offender, was fined ■ . £1 or 14 days, and two first offender*: ;■■■•:: were convicted and discharged. , A FAMILY TROUBLE. <, A sequel to a family trouble was a ; charge against Neil Jepson of assaulting his wife, Ellen Jepson, by knocking her down. Ellen. Jepson was also charged with assaulting her husband by throw, ins a butter-dish »t him and causing, a wound on his forehead.
