A LOST PEGGY-BAG.
FOUND en a shoe.
A valuable silver peggy-bag, containing 12s and a bunch of keys, was lost: at tho Royal Skating Rink by a young lady some time ago. The property has since, been recovered, but tho causo of its disappearance will bo investigated in the Police Court; on Friday.
From what can be ascertained, the young lady went to tho.rink in tho afternoon and deposited the peggy-bag, which is valued at. £6, with tho ticket-seller at the rink for safo keeping. Tho latter placed it on a table in tho office, but when the owner came to get, her property at five p.m. it was gone, and though search was made in every direction, tho peggy-bag could not be found. Tho polico wero notified, and after investigation they obtained a warrant to search tho house of a woman, who was stated to have boon seen admiring the bag. No objection was made to tho search, which resulted in tho peggy-bag being found inside a shoe. The occupant of the house denies having .seen the article. It is understood that several well-known Auckland people will be called on io give evidence when the case comes on for hearing.
