SERIOUS BURNING ACCIDENT.
WOMAN'S TRYING EXPERIENCE
As the result of,a burning accident Mrs. Alice Burnett, wife of Sir. T. Burnett, a blacksmith,' residing in Newton Road, was admitted 'to the hospital yesterday morn.ing, where she now lies in a critical condition. On the previous evening Mrs. Burnett fell asleep while sitting in front of the fire. Sho awoke later to Hud that her clothes, had caught on tiro, and rushed into the street enveloped in a mass of flames. Seeing the woman's plight a neighbour, Mr. E. Bruce, ran out with a blanket, with which he succeeded in smothering the flames. As a result of the accident Sirs. Burnett, who is only 27 years of age, was badly burned from the waist downwards, At the time of the accident the only other occupants of tho houso were Mrs. Burnett's three children, her husband being out. Inquiries made at the hospital last evening showed that tho sufferer had allied a little, although the shock to 'her ' ystcm was very severe.
