VISITED BY MINISTER.

[by TELEGRAPH.press association.] Dunkdin, Saturday. The Hon. R. McKenzie (Minister for Mines) has been visiting the goldfields districts of Central Otago. On Wednesday ho was at Roxburgh, on Thursday at Ophir, and last evening he reached Naseby. Yesterday he made a personal inspection of the area in the Ida Valley covered by "the projected irrigation scheme, for which comprehensive surveys are now being carried out. At Naseby the Minister was welcomed by the Mayor, after which a deputation from the local Miners' Association waited on him, and asked for Government assistance to construct an additional reservoir on Ida Burn, which would enable mining operations to bo carried out to great advantage. Tho Minister promised to have tho project reported upon by • a Government, officer. Mr. McKenzio is now at Balclutha.
