A HAUNT OF THE WHALE.

PROPOSED STATION AT AKAROA.

[BY TELEGRAM.OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Christchurch, Friday. A project is on foot to re-establish the whaling industry 'in Akaroa Harbour. During the past three weeks over 40 whales, including several right whales, have been sighted within three miles of the coast between Peraki and Akaroa, and during this week whales have been sighted daily. A meeting is to be held on Monday, with the idea of floating a company, and, if successful, plant will be immediately procured, and a start made as soon as possible. In the meantime boat crews are being formed, and other details arranged.
