LYSOL POISONING
WIDOW'S SAD SUICIDE.
'A woman named Mrs. E. A. White, who resided in Karangahape Road, was found dead in bed at her residence, yesterday morning, under circumstances which indicate suicide.
A boarder, who lives in the house, was surprised at not seeing Mrs. White during the morning, and receiving no reply to calls he went into her room. There lie found Mrs. White lying in bed dead, and on a table there was a bottle containing' lysol. The police were informed, and the body was conveyed to the morgue.
In the bedroom a paper was found on which deceased had "written: "Pain and misery have weakened my brain, and there is no way out. of it, if I do not want to go to the menial hospital, but suicide. I. cannot sleep. There is nothing before ma but a hideous death and dishonoured grave."
It appears that Mrs. White wrote to a storekeeper, stating that her house was 'J a condition which required an application of lysol, asking him to send her a bottle of lysol, and stating that she was forwarding a pa ; >* of stockings which was all she could give in payment. - -Hie deceased was between 55 and 60 years of age. Her husband, who died some years ago, held a magisterial appointment in the Islands.
An inquest will be held at the Criterion Hotel, at 11.30 a.m. to-day.
