Mr. J. B.'livlck has joined the Atua as assist-ant-purser, in place of. Mr. I. D. Maclaren, who joins the Squall as purser. Mr. F. W. Upon discharge of same she will proceed to Kaipara to load kauri for Sydney. Mi* Robert McThtyre, late chief engineer of the steamer Waihora, who arrived from Sydney by the Warrimoo on Wednesday, has just retired front the Union Company's service. Mr. McJntyre, who is a native of Dumbarton, Scotland, served his apprenticeship with Messrs. W. Cable and Co., and also at Dumbarton. He has been 21 .years in the Union Company's employ, and was chief engineer of the Kaituna, when ho-left her; four years ago to go Home to bring out the Wailiora to. New Zealand. Mr. Mclntvre intends to leave for England shortly. ... THE SOUTHERN BOAT. Tho Htiddart-Parker steamer Victoria left Wellington -on Thursday evening, .having on board for Auckland 1000 tons of cargo. The barquentine Laura, which has been recoppered at Melbourne, is to proceed to Newcastle to load a (yirgo of coal for Auckland, after which she will load timber at Auckland and the Great Barrier for Sydney.
