RAILWAY MANAGEMENT.

Sir, May I bo permitted to call attention to the disgraceful mismanagement which exists in the left-luggagc-room on the Auckland station, between fivo and half-past every evening. lam a regular passenger by tho 5.22 train, and very often have parcels to collect at tho cloakroom. For three consecutive evenings I have waited for 15 minutes for attention from the porter in charge, and on each and every occasion I have had to rush for my train at the last minute and leave my parcels behind. It seems to me to be a disgraceful piece of bungling to have only one man in that room at the very busiest time of the whole day. when there is ample demand for six. That there are others in tho same unfortunate fix as myself I am certain of, because I Live seen the same anxious faces peering expectantly over that counter, and. like myself, have bad to leave without their parcels or miss their train. I do not blame the porter in charge for one moment ; ho, poor chap, does his best with the rows of people, four deep, all claiming his attention at once. What, with the nuisance _ above referred to, and the abominablo lighting in the first-class compartments, together with the fact that tho.ro is no restriction placed on the second-class passengers from streaming through the first-class compartments, leaving all (lie doors open behind them, makes one's daily journey on these trams purgatory, pure and simple. Full-it.
