ANOTHER CLERK SENTENCED.

A bank clerk named Thomas McDonald, who is 31 years of age, had pleaded guilty to a charge of having stolen £25 14s 3d, the property of the Bank of New Zealand, and also to having falsified certain entries in an account book. Mr. Lundon appeared for prisoner, and asked for leniency. The prisoner had given way to drink, and got into indifferent company, but he had not denied his guilt, and had given the police every assistance in the matter, and also in tracing the defalcations of the prisoner just sentenced, Wilkinson and Boyd. It was also McDonald's first offence.

His Honor said tho case was an ordinary case, in which the prisoner should be sentenced to imprisonment with hard labour, but ho would not make the sentence a. long one. ; it would be 18 months' imprisonment with hard labour.
