BRAVADO IN CRIME.

A MELODRAMATIC SUICIDE.

AFTER HARANGUING A CROWD

By Telegraph.Frees —Copyright. St. Petersburg, May 23. A man named Kurtz, a German resident of St. Petersburg, married a wealthy widow named Morosoff, about two years ago, and the pair had since had many quarrels.

Yesterday Kurtz fired three shots at his wife with a revolver, and she was taken to the hospital in a serious condition.

Kurtz then barricaded the doors

of his house, put petroleum on the furniture, and set fire to the building. He harangued the crowd from the balcony, and ended by shooting himself in view of the police as the house became enveloped in flames.
