INSTRUCTION IN SCHOOLS.

The Earl of Meath, in a letter to the newspapers, says that there are only 10 out of 63 county education authorities in England and Wales who have not directed the teachers of elementary schools to give instruction to their scholars on Imperial matters on Empire Day.
ROMAN CATHOLIC LOYALTY. (Received May 23, 11 p.m.) Sydney, May 23. The Rev. O'Reilly, of Bathurst, provincial of the Vincentian Fathers, says that in the minds of millions of Englishmen Empire Day stands for everything that is aggressive, blatant and jingoistic in Imperial policy.
Cardinal Moran, interviewed, stated that emphatically the Roman Catholics of tho .Empire were not disloyal. He added : "The bishops and archbishops of the Commonwealth have forwarded to the King a valuable gem, accompanied by a letter, offering loving homage and devoted loyalty."
