Mr. John Boss, .of the firm of Messrs. Ross and Glendining, made a donation of ■ .£IO,OOO to the object. The fund, having received this munificent commencement,was ;r increased by various other gifts and be- -,'.- „ quests. The principal bequests were those . •by Mr. S. Wilson, of Papakaio (£9308), Miss *. Manson, of Feuding (£looo>, and Mr,- D. Manson, of Palmerston North'.- (£1000). 1 . There ■ wore four other ■' gifts of £500 each, ' . and several smaller donations, from £200 ' . downwards,:; together with interest, brought the fund to -upwards of £27,000, which has ■ ,'■■ been expended on the erection and furnish- .'■'. ing of the:build The college is situated ; in North-east Valley, close to the city of Dunedin, on a 10-acro site, which was also /.presented to the Church for the purpose. ' - - The college, .. which was opened in April, - - ; ■•' 1909,- is not only the theological college of the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand, but .it is also a residential university college, where all students of all creeds attending theOtago. University,, and desiring to reside ',_,/in. college chambers under Christian inv.vfluence and discipline, "have the opportunity * of doing so, and at the same time of securing congenial fellowship and an educational ■•■(■ ■>. atmosphere, combined, with a comfortable .'■, ,!. home. The college was furnished and opened ""'-'.'„ > free of debt, with 42 students tof all facul- :■:._■: ties in .residence, and representing all parts j ,_ of .New.'Zealand. Th© two faculties most -■ < largely represented were theology and mediy cine. During -last summer some alterations :■:■ were made,, which; enabled 52 students to be •.• accommodated.: The; charges', made to the , students are based rOn a moderate scale.
