PARLIAMENT.

LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL. Friday. The Legislative Council met at 2.30 p.m. TAIERI LAND DRAINAGE. The Taieri Land Drainage Bill was put through its final stages. EDUCATION RESERVES BILL. The Education Reserves Bill was committed, and the following new clauses were inserted:— (1) "All funds vested in any school commissioners at the commencement of this Act, and all mortgages and other investments representing the same, are hereby vested in the Public Trustee, who shall hold and administer the fame on the same trusts on which they were held and administered by th school commissioners." (2) " The revenues derived from any such fund or the investment thereof shall (after deducting such sum for the administration of that fund as is prescribed) from time to time be paid by the Public Trustee into the separate account, for the appropriate district as mentioned in the last preceding section and shall be dealt with by the Minister for Finance in pursuance of that section, and in accordance with the trusts affecting the said revenues.'' (5) " Save as mentioned in this section, all assets and liabilities of any school commissioners shall become the assets and liabilities of the Crown." Progress was reported and the Council then adjourned until Tswsday.
HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES. Friday. The House of Representatives sat at 2.30 p.m.; when the Prime Minister announced what Bills the Government intended to proceed with this session. A debate followed, the House adjourning at 5.30 p.m.
MEASURES CONSIDERED. When the House resumed in the evening the managers appointed to confer with the Council in regard to the Stone Quarries Bill reported that clause 14, inserted fav the Council, be not added to the Bill. 'The following Bills were reported from committee without amendments -.--Monopoly Prevention Amendment, Ureweia District Native Reserve Amendment.

The Dentists Amendment Bill was com-' mitted, and a new clause was added providing that any person who, on the coming into operation of the principal Act, was entitled to be registered thereunder hut failed to apply for registration within the time specified by the Act, may apply to the registrar not later than March 31, 1911, to have his name entered in the reThe Bill was. reported with amendments. PUBLIC HEALTH BILL. The Public Health Amendment Bill passed through committee with amendments. (Left sittipg.)
