LOAN AND MERCANTILE CO.'S REPORT. At the Westfleld Sards on April 7 we held our usual sale of dairy and store stock, when cattle were yarded in lair numbers and sold at late rates. ' Dairv cows and heifers sold at from £3 10s to £8; empty cows, £2 to £2 17s; calves, 10s to 22s 6d. On Saturday, at the Pukekohe Yards, we held a clearing sale on account of Mr. R. French, Paparata, of dairy cows, horses, etc. There was a large attendance and good prices were realised. Dairy cows sold at from £3 10* to £6 12s 6d; heifers, £2 10s to £5 ss; bulls, £3; steers, £2 7s to £3 10s; horses, £8 to £24; sundries nt late rales. ' At the Pukekohe Yards on Tuesday there was a very large yarding of cattle of all classes, which sold at advanced prices. Dairy cows, close to prolit, sold at from £5 to £7 12s 6d; heifers, £3 10s to £6; others, £2 15s to £4; grown steers, £5 5s to £6 2s 6d ; two to three-year-old do., £3 4s to £5; yearlings, £1 10s to £2' 18s; calves, 10« to £1 10s;" beef, large yarding, at fully Westfield rates. At Westfield 011 Wednesday we had a. good yarding of fat cattle and prices were the same as "last week. Steers sold at from £5 to £9 10s; cow--, £3 15s to £6 10-. Ox beef sold trom 19s to 213 per 1001b and cow 17s to 19s. Calves, in full supply, .-old at from 13b to £2 Is. Sheep were yarded in larger numbers and sold at fully last week's rates. Best wethers sold to £1, others 14s to 17s: ewes, heavy weights 12s to 15s, others 8s 6d to lis. Lambs were yarded in good numbers and sold under good competition. Woolly lambs realised from 10s fcd to 13s 6d; shorn do", 8s to 12s 9d ; others, lighter sorts, 7s 3d to Bs. Pigs were, yarded in full numbers. Porkers, 15s to £1 10s;' baconers, £1 10s to £2; weaners, 4s to 10s. We submitted extra large catalogues of hide.', skins, and tallow on Tuesday. Hides: Market easier. NORTHERN STOCK SALES. - The Auckland Farmers' Union, Limited (successors to Wakelin, Crane and Co.). report: At, Kama on the sth- inst. we submitted a yarding of 1100 head of nice quality cattle to a good attendance of buyers, representatives being present from Auckland, Xoqrauga, and the Waikalo, as well as surrounding districts. Most of the cattle were steers, ranging from li to four years old, and, as they were wanted, competition was sustained Throughout, everything but thin and rough lots finding buyers at prices satisfactory to the vendors. Beef, steers, brought from £5 las to £7 12s 6d ; cows, .£3 10s to £4 12s 6d. Dairy stock: Only young cows close to profit were wanted, and these sold' readily at trom £3 to £4 ss; others, £2 to £3. Store?: Grown steers, good colours and fresh, £5 5s to £5 lis 6d; ..titers. £4 lCs to £5; three-year-old steers, £4 7s 6d to £4 15rs; two to 2J-year-o'ld steers. £3 5s to £4 : 12 to 18-month steers, good sorts, made from £2 to £,'.'. 17s 6d ; strong winner ftci'i's, £1 5s to £1 12s 6d: steer calves, 15s to £1 2s 6d; Fresh young store cows made from £2 lCs to £3. A special line of sneyed heifers, so'.d on behalf of Mr. Hugh McCarroll, realised £3 17s; quiet, good quality heifers, 2£ to three yeats old, doe to come in early in the spring, were wanted and made from £2 15s to £3 ss; 12 to 18-month heifers, £1 10s to £1 17s 6d ; weaners, £1 to £1 ss; calves, 10s to 17s 6d. At the \V~haugarei yards on the 6th we yarded 600 head of. cattle, and prices throughout were a shade easier than those obtaining at Kamo. During the past month our paddock business bar, been exceptionally good, included in the transactions recorded' being the sale of over 700 head of prime beef from thp Wajroa and Kaipara districts to a Southern buyer. The whole of this purchase, is being frozen for the London market. Land: We have to report satisfactory business in this department during the past four weeks, amongst numerous sales being the following:— Mr. Duncan Finlavson's Pukepoto property to Mr. [•;. M. Ellin, of Waiuktt; Mr. A. Stewart's 'IV Arai Point farm to Messrs. Black Bros., of Canterbury: also, to the same purchaser, 700 acres on behalf of another client: Mr. A. M. Jen-is, Kamo. to Mr. F. Mander. M.P., Whangarei : Mr. J. F. Dwyer, O:jkiiirangi. to Mr. W. Roland, Whangarei;' Messrs. Parker, McLean and Co.'s " 40-acre block" of 1500 acres, to Mr. D. McCraeken. of Taihape: Mr. W. Lawrence, Mangawai, to Mr. Smith, of Kailoia.

At Kamo on April 6 Messrs. F. and W. Wakelin report a full yarding of wellbred stock in forward condition. Buyers were in attendance from Auckland and the surrounding districts, and nearly all the stock submitted sold under steady competition. Eighty head of beef was yarded, and all sold under th? hammer but three head. Steer- and good voting cows, beef, sold at 20s per 10011), and more of the same quality could have been quitted. Fresh-condition 34 to four-year-old steers made £5 15s; fresh threeveur" steers made £5; 24-year steers made £3 10s to £4; 18-month-old steers, £2 10- to £2 15s; one 11-nionth-old steer, bred by Mr. P. Grillin, of Whauwhau. made £3 ss; voting empty cows, £2 15- ,0 £3; two-year heifers, £2 10s; dairy cows, ordinary, made from £3 10s to £4 10s; two good cows, in fre-h condition, from Maungakaramea, made £5 10» and £6 respectively; weaned calves made from 15s to 30s, according to breed and condition; aged bulls made £2 15s; Jersey bull, £3 10s. At our opening saie at Hukerenui, which we held in the Agricultural Society's yards, about 80 head of stock was yarded, and all sold but one benst under good competition. At Maungakaramea we also held a successful sale, and the prices obtained were on a par wth those ruling at the larger centres. No sale was held at Towai, in consequence of the bad weather prevailing.

Messrs. Wilson and Wilson report:—At the clearing' Fade on account of Mr. W. Feather, Tangihiia. there was a good attendance of buyers, and satisfactory prices ruled. Dairy cows, spring calvers, sold "from £3 lO.s to £4 17s 6d; fat cows. £3 17s 6d; 2i ami three-year-old steers, £4 8s; speved heifers, £2 7s to £3 14s; li-year steers, £2 15s; calves, 18s; yearling colt. £10; furniture and effects, at. good prices. At Mr. P. Morgan's clearing sale at Tangihua the weather was wet and boisterous. There was a large attendance of buyers, and all live and dead stock sold under keen competition. The 42 dairy cows, spring culvers, sold from £3 6s to £6 10s. averaging £4 18s 9d; 13 Holstein heifers, £3 17s 6d to £8; veiling do., £2; Holstein bull, £6; heifer calves, - £1 5s to £1 10s; steer do.. £1 8s 6d to £1 10s; harness mare, £11: yearling colts, £6 and £6 10s; furniture and effects, at satisfactory prices. At. Tangiteroria stock sale the vards'were well filled with cattle of a good class. Fat cows sold from £3 12s to £4; fat steers, £6 ss; springers, £3 10s in £4; two to 2£ and three-year-old steers, £3 10s to £4 ss; calveß, 18s to 30s each. At Hikurangi sale a moderate muster of cattle all sold at current values. At Whangarei monthly sale about 1000 head of cattle came forward. There was a good attendance, but competition was dull, and a good deal of business had to be done privately. A mob of 220 three and four-year-old steers was purchased to go to Waikato. We nuote:—Fat cattle (83 yarded): Steers, £6 5s to £7: cows and heifers. £3 -10- to £5: springers. £3 5s to £6 ss; three to four-year-old steers, £4 5s to £5 10s; li to two-year do., £2 10s to £3 6s; yearling do., £2; store cows and heifers, £1 10s to £3 ss; calves and yearlings, 16s to £1 12s 6d ; a line of 95 calves sold at 25s each.
