COX'S CREEK DRAINAGE.
WHAT THE DOCTORS SAID.
A LETTER was received by the Grey Lynn Borough Council last evening from the Auckland City Council, stating that in the Herald of March 22, the Mayor of Grey Lynn was reported as having expressed the opinion that ho could not understand why the city onginoer should have stated that doctors had reported adversely on Mr. H. M. Wilson's scheme in regard to the Cox's Creek drainage, and that, as it appeared there were no such reports, tho engineer must have been romancing. To remove any false impression, the town clerk, in the letter, said tho statement in the city engineer's report referred to the expressions of opinion by Doctors Valintino and Purely at the time of the visit to Cox's Creek, when they wore present, and not to any written reports, although, from press reports subsequently, it would appear that the Mayor of Grey Lynn, had received a letter from Dr. Purdy confirming the attitude which the city engineer attributed to the doctor on this particular question. The Mayor said he still could not quite understand the position. It was strange that they had not previously heard of the doctors'' condemnation of Mr. Wilson's scheme. In fact, they had a report from Dr. Purdy in the opposite direction to that which Mr. Bush had stated. Mr. Warnock said he remembered a remark made on the occasion referred to by Dr. Valintino to the effect that the scheme was a feasible one. Ho would like to see the engineers of tho two bodies confer in regard to tho matter. Mr. Garland said ho had recently, in a private conversation with tho health officer, heard him say that tho scheme, as suggested by Mr. Wilson, was a good one and a sonsiblo one. The Mayor said a report on tho matter would be brought up at the next meeting.
