Mr. Floyd intends to see. the race, between Arnst and Whelcli at Akaroa,; on -April 2, and he -will probably visit that '•: ■■',, port a week before the:event, in order; to lend his experienco to the world's champion in his training work. '. . The primary object of Mr. Floyd's visit to New Zealand, - however, is to enjoy a holiday, during which he will do eome fishing and shooting in the Wairarapa and on.D'Urvillo Island.

Speaking to a Dominion representative on the Arnst-Barry,race,, on the Zambesi, Mr. Floyd- confesses himself nonplussed by the conditions under which the race is to be rowed. : Ho states that' the championship : conditions; set out that the race must bo for £500 a-side, yet so far it has been announced that it will bo for a purse of £1000, put-up by South African people. If this is the arrangement, and no other has so far been announced, it will leave it open for anyone to deposit £1000 and challenge Anist to row for the championship ;of the world and "£SOO a-side, • the day before he rows Barry, in "which; case Ihe match with the., Englishman. for the purse could- not take place until the legitimate challenger , was satisfied. Mr. Floyd -says, that there is; little: doubt 'but that the ; stake could bo divided into two sums, so as to comply with the championship conditions,'.' but so far lie has seen no movement in that direction.
