HOTELS.

By Telegraph.Press Association.—Copyrigfit ... London, February 23. A total of •; £250,000. compensation has been awarded to 91 public houses whose licenses have been extinguished at the London sessions. '

The growth in the cost of compensation for licenses has been continuous. since 1905. According to the above cable the average for a. full-licensed houso works out at £2747 ; in 1908 it was £1116, and in 1907 £1009. : During / the past four years £4,378,818 was collected by the compensation authorities, and a total of £3,545,452 was paid out for 4056 licenses.
