THE PROPOSED DEVIATION. ' [BY TELEGIUJ'H.-—SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT.] i Wellington, Wednesday. In the I House of Representatives/to-day Mr. " Mander asked 'the Minister for Public Works whether it is on the advice or •recommendation of. the engineers that he proposes a deviation of the North Auckland j Trunk :' railway from ' the ■ authorised route. The reply was as follows :"The deviation of the route of -.the North Auckland railway; from ' Ross' -Hill to McCarroll's Gap >; was decided upon by the»Goyernment: after "■■ they \ had carefully - considered : the surrounding circumstances and all the reports bearing 'upon the question. ? '. • * - -•>! " ''. -..•-..■ Mr. Mander also asked the Minister whether he will instruct the engineer-in-chief :to supply him J (Mi*. Mander) with a correct plan of the authorised route of the railway, via Pukekaroro, on to Maungaturoto, -" and thence to '; the east •■■ of - the Tangihua Range, also the proposed deviation therefrom. The -Minister replied that .the present time no corrected scale plan of the railway line cither to the east or west of the Tangihua Range was available, consequently the request could not be acceded to.
