Mr. R. B. Jackson-, of Nelson, is at present on a visit to Auckland.
Mr. B. Kent was a passenger for the South by the Takapuna yesterday.
Mr. E. Clifton, chief inspector of stock, is expected to arrive in Auckland to-day.
. Dr. Yeates, late acting-health officer at Rarotonga, is at present visiting Wellington.
Signer E. Bragato, Government viticulturist, arrived from the South by the lakapuna yesterday.
Mr. Robert Linton, one of the oldest hitlers in the Manawatu. died at Halcombe yesterday, aged 84 years.
Mr. Barbour Lathrop, of Chicago, who is making a. pleasure tour of Australasia and the Pacilic, is at present in Wellington.
The Hon. J. A. Millar is to be publicly entertained at Dunedin on February 19,' in honour of his appointment as Minister for Railways.
Mr. XV. R. H. Trowbridge, of New ILivrn. U.S.A., who arrived in Auckland on Sunday last, went to Rotor yesterday, accompanied by bis son.
Mr. Bradley, of the Cook Islands Iradinn; Company* is at present in Auckland. lie leave* for Wellington shortly, and will return to Rarotonga by the Manapouri, which leaves Wellington on February 9.
Dr. Kwart. late medical superintendent of the Wellington Hospital, has returned to Wellington, after spending a holiday in Australia and the South. Dr. Kwart is abffutr to -commence practice privately in Wellington.
His Excellency the Governor and Lady Phinkct propose* paving a visit to the Cook Islands about the end of April. The last Governor to visit the group was Lord Ranfurly in 1900,. when the islands were annexed by New Zealand.
Madame, Ada, Qrosslev, the distinguished contralto, arrived from New Plymouth yesterday, accompanied by. her husband (Dr. Muec'ke) and her concert party. Madame Crossley was welcomed back to Auckland, ou behalf of the musicians of the city, bv Mr. W. H. "W-bbe. After her three eoncerts here the famous artist proceeds to Rotorua, where the and her party will rest,for. a week. .
Mr. A. T. Cameron, a former resident of Auckland, who has bsori residing in Victoria for about 20 years, is now revisiting his old home. Mr. Cameron was well known in cricketing circles here in the "seventies"' and "eighth?" as an expert batsman and wicketkeeper, and he represented Auckland or several occasions in matches against English and Australian teams. Mr. Cameron will shortly pay a visit to the Old Countrv.
