CATTLE DRIVERS.

ARRESTS IN TIPPERARY. 'By Telegraph.—l'reas Association.—Copyright. London, December 31. Twenty-five persons have been arrested near Clonmel, County Tipperary, on a charge of being concerned in the recent cattle-driving raids in that district. Dr. Hoarc, Roman Catholic Bishop of Ardagh, addressing the congregation at New tonforbos Church recently, referred to the .agitation and. boycotting which had been carried on in the district. The end which they proposed to themselves, was to restore the land to the' people, to prevent emigration, .to have the land cultivated, and to remedy that shocking state of the country' where they found the poor driven to the mountains, the bogs, and the slums, and the cattle taking their place. The motive and object of the agitation -was to put an end to that unhappy state of things. [ He did not find fault with it. He loathed' and abominated the abomination of desolation, which they found around, and ho only wished that any lawful action could end it.. Their methods of warfare was boycotting. He had no hesitation in saying that boycotting as.it existed among them was immoral and sinful. The end of their agitation was good, but their methods were sinful; their agitation as it was carried on was unlawful. It was enough for him that the Holy See had condemned it. Let them take care that when' the' land came to be divided they were not warring among themselves.
