WEIGHT OF GRAIN SACKS.
[by TELEGRAPH.— ASSOCIATION.]
Timaru, Monday. The Prime Minister has been asked by Mr. Buxton, M.P.,- for Geraldine, whether the regulations limiting the weight of grain sacks, which come into operation on February 1, will apply to the old grain now in sacks, nothing being stated in the regulations to the contrary. The Prime Minister has replied that it is not intended to differentiate between new grain and old grain, as those concerned had the matter prominently before them for over fivo years, and at the beginning of last season were specially notified that from February 1 the weight of any sack containing grain must not exced 2001b.
