TITLE ABANDONED.
COUNTESS OF YARMOUTH TO BE | KNOWN AS MRS. COPLEY THAW. | Mkssbs. Lewis and Lewis announce on j behalf of the Countess of Yarmouth, who on her petition obtained an annulment of her marriage with the Earl of Yarmouth, that she has decided to take the unusual step of abandoning the title of Lady Yarmouth, and will in future be known as Mrs. Copley Thaw. Mrs. Copley Thaw is an American lady, and she married the Earl of Yarmouth in 1903. At the beginning of the present year she obtained a divorce against her husband, and she has now finally relinquished all her association with him by aoandoning her title ard adopting her maiden name. She wan born in Pittsburg, and she is a pretty, fascinating woman with bright eyes and soft brown hair, and she was noted in London for her originality and cleverness. Mrs. Copley Thaw's allegiance to her brother, Mr. Harry Thaw, during his trial for murder in New York, aroused con-' siderable admiration. A peeress has an inalienable right to her title, as wa* demonst ratted in the famone. Cowley case. It will be recalled that Earl Cowley married. Lady Violet Ncvill, a daughter of the Marquis of Abergavenny, who divorced him in 1897. She continued to me he title of Countess Cowley after her second marriage with Mr. j Myddelton ; Lord Cowley endeavoured to 1 restrain her, but she vindicated her right j to the title before the House of Lords. •
