HARBOUR BOARD.

A meeting of the Auckland Harbour Board was hold yesterday afternoon, when there wero present: Tho Hon. E. Mitchelson (chairman), Messrs. H. Heather, 0. 0. Caere, A. Keyes, H. Bradney, A. E. Glover, J. Knee.n, J. B. Macfarlane, W. J. Napier, A. J. Entrican,. arid Captain McKenzie. * Tenders: A letter was received from the engineer, Mr. W. H. Hamer, at present in London, who stated that lie had opened the tenders for the new stationary suction dredger, and found that the lowest was that of Messrs. Fleming and Ferguson, and ho recommended that, with certain amendments, the tender be accepted. The price/ was £10,850 f.o.b. at Glasgow, and the amendments would be £600 more, making a total of £11,450. Tho amendments consisted of placing the men's accommodation on deck instead of below, adding to the underwater plates, and increasing the cutter engine and condenser cooling surface. He had hoped to cable regarding the ladder dredger at the same time, but the detail was so heavy that he had not finally settled his recommendation. This, however, would follow, together with the capstans and floating cranes later on. Competition had been keen, and the leading firms who were specialists in these things had tendered. For the capstans 34 firms had tendered. With reference to the fire engines he had ween Messrs. Merryweather and Co. and and and Co., and was going into the matter with them. Gear Storage: Messrs. Nearing and Co. and others wrote requesting the Board to make provision on the wharves for storage of gear required in unloading and loading operations. The matter was referred to the Board Committee. .
